Pillows (2017)
This set of pillows were designed to illustrate what happens when you continue to stuff and hold in your emotions. The lines and crackling of the fabric was achieved by batiking the cotton. I covered the entire piece of cotton in wax and then froze it. Once out of the freezer, the wax is cracked and put in a dye bath. This process was repeated to get different layers of colored cracks. Some lines were then emphasized with both hand and machine embroidery.
